Paw on Heart's comprehensive puppy training course starts with a live online session followed by fun, practical in-person classes. This step-by-step approach ensures you and your puppy have a solid foundation for learning and success!

Step 1: Live Online Session (Before We Meet in Person)

Get ready for training with expert guidance on:

✅ Puppy Growth Stages – Understand development and how to support it.

✅ Home Set-Up – Create a safe, confidence-boosting environment.

✅ Socialisation Basics – Introduce your pup to new experiences the right way.

✅ Legal Responsibilities – Key UK dog ownership rules.

✅ Choosing Training Tools – Find the best leads, harnesses, treats, and toys.

✅ Reading Puppy Body Language – Understand what your pup is telling you.

✅ Solving Common Challenges – Tips for biting, chewing, and house training.

Step 2: In-Person Classes

Build real-life skills and confidence with hands-on training, including:

✅ Essential Cues – Teach Sit, Stay, Down, and Settle.

✅ Recall Training – Help your puppy return when called.

✅ Polite Walking & Greetings – Loose-lead walking, calm introductions, and managing distractions.

✅ Helping Others Interact with Your Puppy – Keep interactions safe and positive.

✅ Building Confidence Through Play – Fun activities to improve social skills and strengthen your bond.

Our puppy classes are suitable for vaccinated puppies from 2 months to 6 months. Each class is 45 minutes long with a maximum of 6 owners.

Classes are held indoors, with an outdoor area for play and toileting. The Riverside Community Centre has free parking.

Additional Support

A Private, Dedicated WhatsApp Group - A safe space for puppy parents to ask questions, share progress, and get support between sessions.

Weekly Recaps - A short email summary of what was covered, including key takeaways and reminders.

Short Video Demos - Quick videos showing how to reinforce key commands at home.

Recommendations - Tips on where to find areas to walk, online and local community groups, and local services.

What You'll Need

✅ Treats – Bring plenty! We recommend using a treat pouch rather than a plastic bag or your pockets.

✅ 6 foot lead – it should not be a slip lead, extendable or elastic.

✅ Flat collar or harness – whichever you prefer.

✅ Poop bags – We have disposal bins
